Roby and I had similar thoughts on Easter weekend. I dusted off the bike as well, although I give Roby a bit more credit. He had to pedal his biketo get going, me on the other hand, I just twisted the throttle.
Either way it was great to be on two wheels again- there is nothing like the feeling of the first ride of the season. Not to mention that the air cooled bikes run incredibly in these early spring temperatures.
So now that the bike has been awakened from its winter slumber I have been trying to sneak out everytime I have a chance. Can’t wait for my next ride, but I feel like my mountain bike is feeling a bit neglected so I have to hit some single track next to make it fair.

Other ways I use my Kryptonite locks!
by Nicole Hoffman
A few weeks ago Gregg and I headed up to the Ocala National Forest for some off-road riding. I figured not only would this be a lot of fun, but it would keep me in riding shape as well! I used to ride dirt bikes in high school with friends but it has been years. I seemed to have forgotten how to ride a dirt bike with all of the road racing I have done. I kept sticking my knee out in the turns and it took me a while to stop doing that. I was laughing each time I did that. Habits are hard to break, you know!
In the midst of taking a break we were playing around with the Kryptonite locks…why in the middle of the forest you might ask? There were a lot of people at the campground where we parked. I suppose it wouldn’t be too difficult to walk away with a dirt bike and then take off in the middle of the woods.
We use the Kryptonite HardWire™ 2025 Key Cable lock on the trailer around the tires even when it’s parked in the driveway for added safety, and that is what you see in the photo.
If you go to Ocala, have a great time…it is a great place to ride. But look out for the bears, we saw 3 of them!

I ride a Honda CRF150…kind of small but it is the perfect bike for me to get back into it. It has electric start…sure beats kick starting the thing each time I fell (which was 3 times). Sorry we don’t have any photos of that.
We spent the day up there on the newly designated trails. If anyone plans to go, make sure you follow the rules! They are very strict there and WILL give you a ticket for riding on the numbered roads….we know. So many roads can be mistaken for trails, especially the first time (they even admit it on their sign but will issue a citation). They mark the trails but not very well. The rules and fees are new as of October 1, 2007.

Motorcycling in Cold Weather
by Eric Anastasia, eastern regional manager
With this cold weather up here in the northeast it is tough to get a good motorcycle ride in without loosing the feeling in the tips of your fingers. Although the easiest way to solve this problem would be to drop the money on some heated gear, but for me I just plan my ride with places to stop and get off to warm up. Sometimes it is a hiking trail that I know of in the area to warm me up, but lately I have been making Moto Market in Acton, MA my stop.
Moto Market is a great high quality motorcycle apparel and accessory shop that doubles as a CafĂ© where you can sip on a hot tea or chocolate or one of their tasty cappuccinos. Now I know I will catch some flak from the folks in the office about the coffee thing, because I think I am the only one in the Kryptonite team that doesn’t plan my day around this caffeinated drink. But I am a fan of Italian coffees hence the last name.
So if you ever find yourself in the area you should stop by, everyone there is helpful and friendly not to mention that there is some great riding up in that area. They do have heated gear too if the coffee doesn’t do the trick. They are located at 481 Great Road (2A/119), Acton, MA 01720

A week full of summer wrap-ups
by Jody Perewitz
Here at Perewitz Cycle Fab we had a busy week September 17-23! There were so many events going on in one week no one at the Perewitz shop got a good nights rest.
It started on Tuesday with Kory's, our service manager, birthday! Another birthday gone with the wind! Next on Wednesday we had our last Bike Night and what a night!
Wednesday was a nice day for bike night. As Donna has stated we luck out and always seem to get good weather, although I don’t want to curse us so we’ll say we have always HAD good weather! Well, the bike night was a huge success! We never know how the last one is going to be because kids are back to school and it gets dark so much earlier.
Those things didn’t seem to stop the crowd though! The parking lot was full, the food line was long and there were numerous volunteers, who got a free Kryptonite lock, to do burnouts. The first one was on a complete custom motorcycle which is cool because usually it's stock bikes, not that those are bad! Anyway it was a great night and an even better way to end the season!
Next we had a long weekend full of events. We had our annual, invitation only charity event, the Fall Foliage Run. It started with a ride from our shop to the Cape, then dinner at our house for 200 people!
On Saturday we had a poker run and a lobster dinner with a live auction. Thanks to the high bidders on the auction items - hopefully we will have a good amount of money to donate to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. On Sunday everyone rode to Provincetown and came back to the Perewitz manor for an Italian dinner and some leftovers. What a weekend!
We skipped work Monday to clean up the house, get rid of the trash, put things away, and eat some great leftovers that have lasted all week! Phew, I am glad it is over but sad to see another season go!
Till the next one!

Fall Foliage Run Weekend Raises Money for MS
It was a beautiful fall weekend on Cape Cod. The air was clear, the temperature was warm, most of the tourists were gone so traffic wasn't an issue and there was the sound of motorcycles all around! It was the Perewitz family's annual invitaional Fall Foliage Run Weekend. The FFR is for their motorcycle club, the Hamsters, and a few close friends.
It's a full weekend with a ride from the Perewitz Bridgewater shop to the Cape on Friday afternoon and a huge BBQ and silent auction at the Perewitz cape house. This year they even had a band playing in the back yard. Lots of fun and money was raised during the auction for the National MS Society.
Saturday dawned a little overcast, but still great weather for the annual Poker Run. Everyone had a great time riding with each other and enjoying the company at the different stops. The winner rec'd this sweeeeet, custom painted 'trash can'.
Saturday night was the big lobster & BBQ dinner and live auction where thousands of dollars were raised for the MS Society, which is a charity near and dear to their hearts and mine as well.
Below are a few pics from Saturday night. Enjoy.
Chef Kory & Company were in the kitchen making a great fish dish and keeping the lobsters coming!
Full house! Everyone seemed to have a great time....
....including Joe Pro in his funky hat.
We even caught a glimpse of Beach from The Beachcruiser! Train was with him. It was great to meet them in person finally!
Soon it was time for the charity auction.
There were some very cool items to bid on. Check out the custom made Converse sneakers.
I kind of liked this fun mail box on wheels.
Local artist, Greg Vaughan donated a one-of-a-kind Fall Foliage Run painted horseshoe crab for the auction and presented the Perewitz family with this one for their trophy case at the shop. Talk about unique!
No event can be done without the hard work of many. Here is just part of the crew that spent their time making this event a success. Bravo gang!
And...of course.....there was cake....yummy cake....
Thanks to the Perewitz family for being so generous, putting on a fantastic weekend and supporting this great charity.

End of Summer? Already?!
Do you ever find yourself saying at say 7pm on a Sunday night, "Where did the weekend go?" I do it constantly. I'm never sure how I got from 6pm on Friday night to...woosh...Sunday night. How did it happen? I don't ever get enough done or relax enough or hang out enough. Two days is just too short.
But, summer here in the US is really, in my mind, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. That's 3 months. Not two days...three months. And, I still find myself saying today on the eve of Labor Day Weekend, "Where did the summer go?" Really. The days are already getting much shorter - like an hour more of darkness than in the middle of summer. Nights are a little cool sometimes now.
Where did it go? Does anyone have an answer for that?
Fall holds great things, too. My Facebook Countdown Calendar tells me that Interbike (the bicycle trade show in the US) is in 26 days (yikes!!) so we'll be off to Vegas soon. But, before that I'm up at the NASCAR track in NH for the race September 16 (woo-hoo!). And, the Fall Foliage Run Weekend with the Perewitz Family soon after. So, there are many things to look forward to in the fall, but I'd still like to stretch out summer a little longer, just like I would every weekend of the year.
For those of you in the US - have a great long weekend. Ride safe.

Sturgis Trip
by Craig Glab, Central Regional Manager

My little rascals on the motorcycle as I was getting ready to leave for Sturgis.

Here's the hotel - Holiday Inn Spearfish. It's the official Hamster hotel for the week.

Main Street in Sturgis.

This is only one block and there's got to be at least 10 blocks. They all look alike, with hundreds, no thousands, of motorcycles on each block.

The Stugis bike was designed and built by Sabers Specialties to be the official Sturgis motorcycle. It was raffled off in Sturgis.

The Sturgis bike was just off Main Street. Check out the lock hanging from the tent.

Thursday the Hamsters USA hold their annual ride for Hamsters and invited friends. We road from Spearfish into Sturgis which is 17 miles out.

I think there were about 350 motorcycles in the ride. The mayor of Sturgis came out to talk to us all before we left and he was asked to pick his favorite motorcycle of the bunch. Keith Terry, owner of Terry Components, has the nicest bike, according to the mayor.

Thursday was a busy day. After the Hamster ride, I rode out to Jesse Jurens' Top 50 Rally Park to see what was going on.

Weekend Ride Through New England on a Kawasaki ZR7
by Eric Anastasia, Eastern Regional Sales Manager
I wanted to post this earlier this week, but just could find the time (you know how that goes).
This past weekend a friend and I took a great ride from Boston to Hartford. The way down was great, all back roads. We took Rt. 109 to Rt. 16 to Rt. 12.
From 12 we picked up Rt. 197 around the Woodstock, CT area. Here we got into the heart of the ride - the roads were twisty and tree lined with a peppering of wide open fields and farm houses overwhelmed with charm.
From there we picked up 190. Now, you could pick up 84 west off of 190 but we took 190 all the way through to Rt 5. There were two reasons we didn’t pick up 84. One was that 190 takes you down some more great roads through towns like Stafford Springs and Somers, CT.
But, the main reason was that 190 takes you through a town called Hazardville and being that close to a town call Hazardville we just couldn’t pass up not riding through just to see if we would go in and out alive. Well, uneventfully we made it out alive and continued 190 to Rt. 5 and following that to Rt. 140 then finally to Rt. 159, which dropped us off just a few miles north of Hartford, CT - the insurance capital of the world.
Now, to help qualify how great of ride this was if you where in New England this past Sunday you would know that the weather was not good. Rain was in the forecast but the skies appeared to start to clear in the North East so we geared up to get on the road. As soon as we got about five miles into the ride the rain came and it came to stay. The entire two and half hour ride it rained, and rained good. Despite all the rain, and getting drenched, the ride back was just as great as the ride there.
