I'm still a proud member of The Spokesmen Cycling Podcast even though I've missed a couple of episodes this year. But, I was able to join the guys this morning for a bit of cycling chat.
Episode #33 is up and ready for your listening pleasure. We talked about commuting to work, the Tour Day France, Tyler's win, the UCI, "WADA World" and even wee-wee shorts. I'm not kidding...
We also mentioned that we're all on Twitter now. Links to each on the post for the podcast.
Give it a listen. You'll be glad you did.

Announcing THE Bike to Work Book
I've been keeping this a secret for a couple of weeks now, but the official announcement has been made....my fellow Spokesmen and general cycling gurus, Carlton Reid and Tim Grahl are collaborating on a book that most people should get as soon as it is available - The Bike to Work Book.
The print version of the book will be out in November and will be American in spelling and such. However, there will be a downloadable version, too. And...get this, you will have the ability to have it localized with specifics to your region. How cool is that? I wouldn't expect anything less from Carlton and Tim, though.
You can check out podcasts from the guys as the book is being written, too. They are going to be busy, busy guys for the next couple of months. But, this will be an amazing reference book to have if you are going to bike to work or even are thinking of biking to work. There will be something in there for everyone - beginner to those who already ride to work. There's always more you can learn, extra tips that make the ride better. All of that will be included.
Congrats to Carlton and Tim! This is a great, great project!

Congrats Fredcast!
My fellow Spokesman, David Bernstein, not only does our little gig, but he's also the man behind The Fredcast Cycling Podcast. He's a talented guy and extremely knowledgeable about all things cycling.
His wildly popular Fredcast Cycling Podcast just hit the century mark! Yup, episode #100 is up and ready for your listening pleasure. He just finished it late last night. David says it's a bit long, but hey, it's the middle of cycling season AND the Tour Day France! It's chalk full of good stuff. Go give it a listen.
Congrats on the first century, David. Now get back in the saddle and start on the 2nd century! We are all looking forward to it!

The Spokesmen Podcast #27
Yesterday morning I was able to join The Spokesmen podcast again! Woo-hoo! It's been awhile because of my schedule and the schedules of the folks on the podcast (life happens, right?!).
Because life happens, there were only three of us, but it wasn't for lack of trying - Tim Grahl had some wacky computer problems, Tim Jackson was on a plane with his knees up near his chest and Carlton had a technology meltdown (not his, but his provider). But, David, Richard and I got up early (ok, not so early for me, but wicked early for Richard on the West Coast) and had some fun together. I always think I sound like a dork, but David and Richard sound fabulous, as always.
Some of the topics on Episode #27:
- Tragic accident this weekend in northern California
- Accident in Tucson with deputy hitting group ride
- Utah cyclists press charges under 3-foot rule
- Dave Zabriskie's Yield to Life
- Alleycat races
- Paris-Nice/ASO/UCI/Astana
- Rock Racing (still looking for gear to go on sale!)
- Donna's little opinion about Tour of Cali
- Our bike/riding tips
We dedicated this show to the late, great Sheldon Brown.
I'm listening to the show right now, but it's not over yet. David says that he added some bloopers to the end...I can only imagine...yikes! I'm sure they are fun (right, David?). Regardless, it was a good show - go on over and listen! Make sure to let us know what you think - either here or over on The Spokesmen site.
Update: Hey, Masiguy...you have to listen to the end...to the bloopers...past the static and giggles...

iceBike - Day 1
I'm over in the UK this week attending a trade show at Madison, our UK distributor. Don's here with me and we are joining our European Sales Manager, Paul Graveson at the stand/booth. Paul's been with us about 7 months now and you will be learning more about him in the coming weeks.
Madison puts on a fantastic show under the tents at their warehouse. Yesterday was the start of the show with dealers from all over like Barry from Firth Cycles and dealers from Oxford, Bristol and loads of other places. It was also press day where I got to see some of my friends in the UK media like Chipps and some of the guys from Future Publishing. It was great fun for me because this show is less hectic than Eurobike or Interbike so I got to spend some quality time catching up with them. I really enjoy that.
Off to get ready for Day 2 where I'll get to see fellow Spokesman Carlton Reid today! I'm very excited about that. Maybe it will even be sunny again today. Yes, it was sunny yesterday! Really. I'm not kidding.

Lake Mead Ride Video
I've been to Interbike 8 times now...and 6 of those I've come home sick. This year is no exception. I've got a red nose, watery eyes and the sniffles. People in the office are avoiding me like crazy....which could be a good thing. I'll get lots done between sneezes.
So, I wasn't feeling that chipper to write this morning. Thank goodness for friends and their creativity!
Carlton Reid sent this link to me this morning. It's a fun video of the 24-mile industry ride to Lake Mead that happened before the indoor portion of Interbike started this year. You'll see the Masiguy, David Bernstein, Rich Kelly and the Boston Globe's Ross Kerber (I told you he was a bike guy!).
Enjoy!

Interbike Day 1
Day 1 of the Interbike show opened with a flourish. I don't think I took a deep breath until about noon - or maybe later.
Highlights:
- seeing good friends! Some I only see once a year, some I haven't seen in a few years and others that I have never met in person until yesterday. I know trade shows are a lot of work, but this truly is the best part. And, if you have more than 2 minutes to catch up with some of these folks, it's truly a great day. Thanks to those friends who found more than a few minutes to catch up.
- having Bob Roll in the booth, of course. Bob is always fun and brings in a great crowd.
- judging the YouTube contest at the Shimano booth. I was in some pretty cool company. Wow!
- actually doing a Spokesmen podcast in the same room with the rest of the crew! I may have sounded like a complete dork, but it was great to be in the same room with David, Carlton, Tim and Tim.
- seeing dragons - yes, dragons...
- attending the 7-Eleven team reunion. What a historic occasion. As John Eustice said, this is really the team that started it all...7-Eleven to Motorola to US Postal to Discovery....and what stories they have of the 'old days'. The pre-event announcement mentioned "Celebrating the Fast Times & Raucous Racing of American Cycling's Original Supergroup". After hearing some of the stories, I have to think it was quite a wild ride (no pun intended).
***The 7-Eleven reunion was a fundraiser for the Davis Phinney Foundation. All donations to the foundation to October will be matched by Bicycling Magazine. You can donate here, just leave the box for the "Victory Lap" checked and Bicycling will match. Bravo, Bicycling!
Ok, got to run to the second day....here are a few photos...

Kryptonite booth (side view)

Oh, look at the front view of our booth...it's the new Masi Soulville ...yes, it's as cool as you think it is....and it looks good on our flamed out parking meter (yes, it's a Dave Perewitz original).

Bob Roll telling stories to some cycling fans at the Kryptonite booth.

I'm a lucky gal....this was the group judging the YouTube contest. (l-r) Dave (Shimano), David (Fredcast/The Spokesmen), Tim Grahl (Crooked Cog), little ole me (!), Bob Roll (y'all know him...), Master of Ceremonies Carlton (BikeBiz), Mr. Kozo Shimano (our gracious host) and Phil Liggett (y'all know him, too).

I wasn't kidding about the dragons....
